India – a land of huge contrasts, one of the fastest growing economies in the world and now a centre of interest for some very exciting developments in healthcare. You will get to experience the challenges of medicine in a resource-poor country but you will also get to see ‘state of the art’ medicine too. The benefits of an urban environment and the knowledgeable Med-Co Global Exchange support team will make sure you never feel alone and out of your depth. Come and discover for yourself how dedicated local doctors are finding a new way to provide top class care to many through private funding. These doctors are pioneering the delivery of highly efficient clinical services without reliance on government support. Something for the cash strapped economies of the West to take note of?
Hyderabad is rapidly becoming one of the healthcare centres of India. Through investment and the dedication of local but frequently British trained doctors, Hyderabad now has hospitals which are state of the art. Through our partners in Hyderabad we can offer a unique experience, giving students the opportunity to study in these high-tech centres, whilst also getting the chance to spend time in rural clinics through out-reach programmes. Hyderabad is a multitude of landscapes, cultures and people. The spirit of this place and the kindness and generosity of its people is something unique, and there is a lot to see and do!
Med-Co Global Exchange accommodation is of a high standard. You will have a room to yourself – unless of course you are travelling as a couple and want to share – a living and dining area and kitchen facilities. You can always opt for more basic rooms when you branch out on your own for a few days to see the surrounding countryside! We will confirm your accommodation details when you make your reservation.
Two of our partner hospitals are both super-speciality and of international repute. Acting as a tertiary referral centre for many local hospitals, they offer services and technologies above and beyond your average hospital. Both hospitals have outreach programmes taking excellent healthcare services into the surrounding community – you will be able to join in with these visits and therefore see a very different side of medicine as practiced in a rural setting whilst being able to return to the comfort of your city based accommodation in the evening if you so wish. You will join the busy medical teams and participate in both day and overnight shifts. As in the UK you will be closely supervised and will not be asked to work at an inappropriate level. Both our hospitals are very involved with medical training and so are used to having medical students on the wards.
Hyderabad is a vibrant mix of old and new India; there is no shortage of low cost, fun things to keep you busy in your spare time. The local and tourist attractions in Hyderabad are well worth the visit. So whether it’s visiting a picturesque monument when the sun is setting, trying out a spicy local dish and relaxing with friends or shopping in the numerous markets and haggling down the stall holders for that item you’ve had your eye on, or even joining an exciting jungle rafting and trekking adventure for the weekend, Hyderabad has got it all. Our tour manager has great low cost trips on offer; full details will be given on request. Remember, we will always help you find things to do that match your interests.
When you want to get out of town to see the ancient sites, jungle, hills or beach we’ve partnered up with the Andrah Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation to make sure you get great experiences at an affordable cost. www.aptourism.in
