Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Deliver high-quality nursing care to individuals in the Immigration Removal Centre, conducting health assessments, administering treatment and medications, and ensuring all aspects of patient care are met with the highest standards.

  • Clinical Assessment: Conduct thorough health assessments, identifying any concerns, and develop personalised care plans to meet the unique needs of each individual.

  • Emergency Response: Be ready to respond to medical emergencies swiftly and effectively, providing immediate and critical care as needed, ensuring patients receive timely medical attention.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date medical records in compliance with relevant regulations, ensuring high standards of patient care and legal compliance.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care to individuals. You will engage with doctors, support staff, custody personnel, and Home Office teams, ensuring seamless communication and the best possible outcomes for patients.

  • Education: Provide health education to patients, helping them to understand their medical conditions and treatment options, while offering support throughout their healthcare journey.

  • Security: Adhere to strict security protocols within the Immigration Removal Centre, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents while providing nursing care.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration

  • Experience in A&E or Emergency Care is highly desirable

  • Competent venipuncture skills (desirable).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations

  • A compassionate approach, with a dedication to delivering outstanding patient care

  • Experience working in secure settings or an understanding of security protocols is advantageous

  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate care to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

 

Desirable Attributes:

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding and respect for the diverse backgrounds of individuals in the immigration removal system.

  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle challenging situations with professionalism.

Security training will be provided and enhanced PVG and CTC clearance will be arranged. Due to Home Office CTC requirements for posts based inside IRC’s, your application is unable to be considered if you do not meet the UK residency requirement, which includes having spent the past 3 years living within the UK.
